Artist Profile

AKATSUKA Yuji

Graduated of Graduate School of Tokyo University of the Arts.
Currently Professor at Musashino Art University.
Numerous solo and group exhibitions in Japan.

AONO Tadashi

I create my works by melting and cutting raw iron bars one by one and piling the pieces up. Iron is born from the earth, it acquires various shapes, and it’s blown far and wide by chance and by the wind, only to eventually return to the earth. I am overwhelmingly guided by this thought when I am creating my iron works.

ITO Makoto

Sculptor. Born in 1955. Graduated from Musashino Art University Graduate School. Currently Professor at Musashino Art University.

KOGASHIWA Kaori

Born 1968. Graduate of Waseda University.
Specialized in book design and illustration; she has published a number of books including children's books, picture books and fairy tales.
Studied nihonga (Japanese-style painting) under a master, but is mostly self-taught.

KOWZU Nakaba

Born in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture. Graduated from Kuwazawa Design School.

TOHARA Hitoshi

Born in Tokyo in 1955. Graduate of the Graduate School of Tokyo University of the Arts.

HASHIBA Nobuo

Born in Tokyo in 1950. Lived in Paris 1978-79. Since 1979, Hashiba has been engaged in numerous exhibitions, at venues including Ecole des Beaux Arts, L’atelier Yankel and Le Salon in Paris. Hashiba incorporates contemporary art in Japanese traditional ‘shitsurai’ culture, which is the art of gracefully placing decorations suitable for the season or for ritual in appropriate indoor places.

BABA Kentaro

1968 Born in Nagasaki.
1993 Completed Postgraduate Course at Sokei Academy of Fine Arts
1996 10th Holbein Scholarship
2005-2006 Studied in Milano under the Japanese Government Overseas Study Program for Artists

NAGASAWA Hideyuki

Professor Emeritus, Musashino Art University. Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1947.

MORIKITA Shin

Associate Professor at Aichi University of the Arts. Born in Nagoya in 1969. Graduate of Aichi University of the Arts.
